Our Story

We didn’t plan to meet, but we kept finding our way back to each other. #WhenAlanMetSandy We met by accident on a day that already meant something. It was Alan’s birthday, and neither of us were entirely sure how we ended up there. Our mutual friend had made plans to watch It (Chapter 1) with Sandy, then later invited Alan without realizing she had, essentially, double booked the night. There was no setup, no grand plan, just two separate invites that happened to collide. Alan’s version: Why is there a random person at my birthday? Was this supposed to be my gift? Sandy’s version: Wait… am I crashing someone’s birthday right now? Should I leave? What was supposed to be a casual movie night turned into the start of something unexpected. Somewhere between the opening scene and the jump scares, we learned two things. One, we scare easily. Two, we were definitely going to remember this night. One scream turned into two, and just like that, a very unromantic horror movie became a surprisingly memorable first meeting. After that, we kept ending up in the same places. Movie nights, dinners, game nights. What started as group hangouts slowly became the moments we looked forward to most. The funny part is we had been in overlapping circles for years and somehow never met. Same places, same people, just different timing. Those almost meetings make our story feel like a rom-com that took its time. We clicked over the things we both love, food, anime, travel, and games. Games especially brought out a competitive streak. Some of us played fair, some played to win, and some bent the rules just enough to keep things interesting. Alan’s version: It’s not cheating, it’s strategy. Sandy’s version: It’s definitely cheating. Whether it started as playful rivalry or something more is still up for debate, but it definitely kept things interesting. At some point, things changed. We started focusing more on what mattered most, being intentional with our time, our goals, and the people in our lives. As group hangouts became less frequent, we noticed each other’s absence. That space led to something new. We started spending more one-on-one time, talking, laughing, and learning more about each other. What began as coincidence slowly became choice. Somewhere between the conversations, shared meals, game-night antics, and quiet moments, we found something steady. A best friend, a partner, and someone who celebrates the highs while also keeping us honest about the lows. We’ve made memories everywhere, from exploring new spots around Seattle to traveling near and far, but some of our favorites are the simplest. Discovering a new eatery, laughing until our sides hurt, or sharing a quiet afternoon together. We’ve always loved exploring, whether it is a new city, a new dish, or a new chapter. Now, we’re excited to keep discovering life together, one scene at a time, just like in the movies.
